How to Create Powtoon

Assalamualaikum and hye everyone👋

The forth Web 2.0 that I want to introduce to you is Powtoon. I have being using this web for quite a long time and it is quite easy to use.

A little bit introduction about Powtoon, it is an online service to create interesting animated features such as handwriting animation, cartoon animation, transition effects and more. Almost all features can be accessed in a single screen making Powtoon easy to use. Features such as built-in cartoon characters, animated models and other objects make this service suitable for instructional media creation, able to cater to the need of students who love the relaxed atmosphere and non-formal learning in the classroom.

💋💋Let's take a look on the features that offered :

Interface

To start making a presentation on Powtoon you click ‘Start Now’ and you are given the option to work with either a ready-made Powtoon, or to start from scratch. There is also an option for making Dynamic Presentations, but since the site is in beta, you need to subscribe. For my demo I started with the Ready-Made Powtoon.

Slide timeline and animation

This feature replaces the animation pane on PowerPoint, and I have to admit it is much easier to use. However, there are multiple unfortunate limitations. Since the site is free to use one cannot make extremely long and complex slides but instead one must settle for making more slides that are simpler.

Sounds

Powtoon only lets you use one sound in your presentation. For presentations where there needs to be multiple audio files embedded this is a pretty obvious issue.

Transition

Powtoon’s transitions are pretty fun to play with, especially using the ‘hands’ for entrance/exit effects. Transitions are helpful in making a presentation flow, so you can follow characters from one slide to the next or show some kind of relationship between two distinct points.

😱😱However, Powtoon cannot be downloaded directly from the web. It must be export on other medium such as. YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia Hubspot and others.

💋💋There are a lots of benefits of using Powtoon in the process of teaching and learning:

Teacher can use for the introduction of assignment

Create excitement around an assignment while also providing the assignment details for ongoing reference so students stay on target.

STEP 1: Sign up/login Powtoon account.
Fill in all the information that required.

STEP 2: Click on the 'blank powtoon' to start the editing process.
Or you can also click on the other templates provided that suit your content.

STEP 3: Choose your template.
You can choose between modern edge, cartoon, whiteboard, infographic and real.

STEP 4: Start the editing process.
You can edit the background, text, character, props, shapes, sound and media at the right side of the page while the timeline can be edited at the bottom of the page.

STEP 5: Click the button 'preview and export' at the upper right side of the page in order to export the video.
It will give you a few choices of social media for you to share the video.
